The vote to raise the US debt ceiling has passed the house. From Zero Hedge:
As we noted earlier, the bill – which as discussed here does not cut real Federal spending even in year one despite widespread propaganda that In exchange for Republican votes for the suspension, Democrats agreed to cap federal spending for the next two years – would set the course for federal spending for the next two years and suspend the debt ceiling until Jan. 1, 2025 — postponing another clash over borrowing until after the presidential election. By then total US debt will be $35 trillion and well on its way to unsustainability.
In other words, Republicans preemptively capitulated.
Of note, in order to try and convince hardline conservatives to vote yes, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy had proposed a bipartisan commission, at an expected cost upwards of $100 million, to outline future budget cuts.
“After today, I’m going to put a commission together to look at the entire budget. This debt is too large,” said McCarthy. “We can be very serious about looking long term to solve this problem.”
Did someone say set up a committee?

So, we’re not the only nation that loves stamps
At this point they’re not even trying to pretend that there are two different parties in America.
No increases is effectively a cut of whatever the inflation is.
So up to 10% in 2 years.
But everyone got what they wanted really.
Democrats can pretend that they can’t do anything they promised to do because evil Republicans stopped them.
Republicans can pretend to be working on reducing the deficit.
A perfect system really.
The Republicans bend over every time. I’m so sick of it all I don’t consider it worth voting anymore. I believe elections are rigged anyway.
All that happens in Congress is grandstanding and Kabuki Theater for the enthralled rubes hooked on infotainment. The unity of the parties on Ukraine and Israel is a tell. They’re controlled by the Zio-Nazis.
The US government is taken over by Nazis as you wrote long ago. We have Neocon Nazis, Neolib Nazis, Femi-Nazis and Zio-Nazis. The Zio-Nazis are a small minority of our population, only 2..4% yet they have immense power because of their wealth. They control Hollywood, the media, academia and our government. The Neocon Nazis show their loyalty to the Zio-Nazis and are easy to spot with their crossed US and Israeli flag lapel pins. The Neolib Nazis and Femi-Nazis are easy to spot with their Rainbow Flag pins.
The Vice President’s husband is a Zio-Nazi and in charge of formulating FJB’s Antisemitism Policy. Oh what fun I’m going to have getting rounded up for the Concentration Camp for this comment!
Out of curiosity, what questions are you asking them?
I think 4 options would be good- support Ukraine/support Russia/don’t know/don’t care
Apologies for the off-topic, but did you see Ukrainian forces have been attacking Belgorod over and over with laughably small groups? I’m beginning to think they’ve given up on real military objectives and are going full PR. They even put out this video of a “defector”: https://twitter.com/GeromanAT/status/1664519546659651584
You should see my newest article about this 🙂
Yes, that’s keeping it simple.
Ian, I’m a long time Legionaire and member of AMVETS. Annual renewal is coming up. I’m going to do a project. I’m going to take a poll of all the members of my posts. I’m going to ask them what they think about Russia, Putin and Ukraine. I’m going to tally the opinions. If the majority of the members are against Russia and for Ukraine, I’m quitting.
So far I’ve asked a few and all of them said they want to kick Russia’s ass. It doesn’t look good.
I bet they all looove Israel too. I used to be a big fan of Israel and Netanjahu but not at all anymore. I’ve seen too much reported by Citizen Journalists about the treatment of Israeli Arabs who are treated like the Jews in 1939 Germany. I’ve learned about the IDF’s treatment of Citizen Journalists. My opinion has changed 180°. My opinion of Roger Waters has also changed 180°.
David Bowie’s song Changes really applies to this old man who will be 69 in 19 days.
Happy Birthday in advance!
