War Medals and Chocolate Bars

Here’s a collection of oldie war photos that I found this week.

A member of the 131st Field Artillery Battalion loading a 105mm shell packed with D-ration chocolate bars for an infantry battalion cut off in the Belmont Sector, France, 29 Oct 1944. I didn't know you could do this, but it checks out.

This photo is often misattributed to WWII, and I almost repeated the mistake, but I wasn't sure of the nationality of the soldiers and wanted to be sure. As it turns out, this is a photo of troops from the French 13e demi-brigade de Légion étrangère (13th Demi-Brigade of the Foreign Legion) in July, 1958.

Give the guy a break. It’s been a while.

There are a lot of potential silly captions for this one, but I think Joe is simply impressed that a woman could have so many war medals. Regardless, his new comrade does seem entertained. Source.
