Why Does the Regime Want Everyone to Virtue Signal?

Why does everyone have to put their pronouns in their email signatures and wear rainbow pins, and face severe consequences if they don’t? In short, it’s because acts of active consent, as opposed to passive or silent consent, is a powerful tool of to establish a new order, and destroy opposition to that order at the lowest level; within the very minds of the people.

Earlier I wrote an article about what I called “the tyranny of consent,” with its early beginnings in English history when Henry VIII beheaded Thomas More for refusing to recognize his divorce and marriage. Since then, the idea of everyone being being obliged to continuously express consent to the regime ideology has become a staple of almost every western government as well as western-backed color revolutions around the world. It stands to reason that Henry VIII feared rebellion because he himself was a rebel who committed the most foul and self-indulging heresy against the highest divine authority. So he required affirmative consent from every person of consequence on his island, and root out anyone who refused.

The idea of active consent became particularly prominent as communist movements boiled up across the Europe. A revolution that bases its legitimacy on support from the workers and peasants consequently must be particularly preoccupied with ideological correctness within its ranks.

Colonialism and awareness of colonialism also played a role in the evolution of required consent. The Swiss legend of William Tell starts with the protagonist being arrested for his failure to salute the Hapsburg governor’s hat sitting atop a pole in the town square. William at this point was not a rebel and apparently had no plans to become one, but his inadequate enthusiasm was enough to be labeled an enemy of the state. In the 1981 movie Lion of the Desert (which I reviewed here) about Libyan freedom fighter Omar Mukhtar, his appointed court defender argues that he had never consent to be ruled by Italy and had never accepted money or any other benefit for being an Italian subject, so could not be charged with treason. It’s an intriguing argument to be sure, and has everything to do with national identity. An Italian was simply born into the Italian regime and that’s that because of the so-called social contract. But the legitimacy of such a contract is far more feeble, or nonexistent, when it’s an alien nation the Italians conquered by force.

The neo-colonialist regimes of today have found a solution which can be seen everywhere. A nation is presented with a black-and-white choice between “us” (who want to help you) and “them” (some bad external threat that wants to hurt you because they’re evil). Ukrainians wear pots on their heads and bounce, Armenians do silly dances to stop Putin(????), Americans wear pussy hats and lay down in traffic to stop Trump, and so on. The more disruptive the protest, the better, because no one can easily pass through it without being shamed or beaten by the mob (you don’t even care about black lives!).

Whoever doesn’t jump is a moskal!

This is something everyone in the USA needs to think about in the upcoming midterm elections, and the presidential election two years from now.

You can see Billy Bob and I debate this topic in tonight’s podcast at 7 p.m. Moscow time. 1. Ron Unz at unz.com has argued that the purpose of the on-again off-again peace talks are to enable the Trump family to get wealthier due to insider trading and market manipulation, and I think he is correct about this.
