I live in Crimea. Every summer Ukraine claims to be about to capture Crimea, and say it with such conviction even pro-Russia westerners start to believe it, so I will share my photos from Russia Day.
We wait for the bus in the morning, and speaking of buses, this is a good opportunity for comparison.
Here’s what the old bus on this route looked like 10ish years ago, shortly after Crimea re-joined Russia.
Note the route is displayed along with a Russian license plate, for any Ukraine supporters who claim this is an ancient photo taken out of context.
In the present day there is a bus at our stop every hour.
Here is a photo of me near the “Vostok” monument on the street where Korolev lived while he was working on the Soviet rocket program.
In that time Feodosia was a closed city, meaning it was not possible for a person to enter without permission. In the 1980s (I think) it was opened for normal settlement. Though Feodosia isn’t anywhere as big a tourist destination as other places like Sevastopol and Yalta, it is still gets crowded during the tourist season. So we try to go to the beach in the morning before the beaches are full.

The main thing is that Ukrainians spend a huge amount of western money and military resources to try to ruin Crimean people’s summer holidays. This is apparently such an important objective, they’re willing to lose extra soldiers (who consequently die because they didn’t have drone support) to annoy Crimeans. Though we have good air defenses here, unfortunately people are sometimes killed by the drone strikes.
