Woke Is the Tool For Conformity In Western Democracy

Every state requires some degree of conformity, otherwise it cannot function. However, conformity for the sake of conformity has never been important in Russia. In practice, what is globally considered conformity is largely Anglo, and can be traced back more than 400 years.

In my review of V for Vendetta, which I compared to the Thomas More biopic Man For All Seasons, I wrote:

Thomas More lost his head because he refused to bless the king’s bigamous marriage. More, as a trained lawyer, argued his defense correctly and competently. He had never spoken a traitorous word, so could not be tried for treason. He had given the king’s authority silent consent. Silent consent was the main principle of his defense, and it has a Biblical origin. The pharisees tried to trick Jesus into advocating rebellion (which he could be arrested for), and he simply told them to give onto Caesar what is Caesar’s. More gave the king what was owed to him, so had committed no crime. But the king disagreed.

In the end, More died not for rebellious actions, but rebellion in his own private thoughts. This might make him the first person in English history executed for thought crime, arguably the most important and profound legal precedent in western history.

This incident could be considered a precedent leading to Britain, and by extension the US and EU, building the regime affirmative consent that exists today. It is not enough to simply not rebel against the system. The workers and peasants are obligated to consciously express their allegiance to the regime every waking moment of the day. Boring vanilla governments like what Russia has could be described as a fence. There are things that are allowed and not allowed. As long as a citizen does not figuratively (or literally) jump the fence and do something that’s not allowed, he is safe from persecution. But the Anglo system is more advanced and extreme in its control, so more closely resembles a yoke. It is possible to go about your day without thinking about the fence and not interact with it in any way. But the yoke weighs down on your neck, as a constant, neverending reminder of your submission to the state.

Consider how Orwell described it in 1984:

If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face— forever.

The boot on your face cannot be ignored or tuned out. It is always there and that is the purpose of the boot. This is inherently an entirely different philosophy of conformity than what is practiced by most other countries, including Russia.

Here is a very literal example: an employee at Gazprom can’t write “Putin is an idiot” in his email signature. But he’s not compelled to write that he loves Putin either. But the Anglo employee must put his pronouns in his email signature and social media handles. The Anglo athlete must wear the LGBT rainbow on his uniform, the Anglo student must condemn his own whiteness, and so on. And yes, many of these consent rituals involve self degradation and humiliation, which is intended to thoroughly dehumanize the slaves.

Someone who fails to conform is guilty of a hate crime, the worst possible offense. The hate crime is basically a reframing of Orwell’s wrong think, portraying that words (or absence of words) is violence. If you don’t put pronouns in your bio, that means you don’t consent to LGBT, which means you hate LGBT people, which means you think Hitler was a cool guy, which means you agree with the Holocaust, which means you personally committed the Holocaust. It’s logical, actually.

After I wrote that article about Thomas More, I saw increasingly ridiculous humiliation rituals, particularly in the UK. This weekend a BBC article went viral for declaring that white women not painting their nails is literally white supremacy.

I often see right wingers mock “woke” for being senseless and stupid, but they fail to understand the point, and why it’s so effective. Forcing people to believe ridiculous things, and deny observable reality, is the ultimate loyalty test. Anyone who refuses to deny reality, like saying men can be women, can be immediately identified as a thought criminal and destroyed. The sheep who willingly deny reality every day eventually come to believe these things, breaking their minds and making them easy to program with whatever thoughts the regime wants.
