Victory Day in Crimea

Today Maria and I are in Kerch. There was not a sensational spectacle like in Moscow, but this morning thwre was a wreath laying ceremony and some ceremonies at the the city’s eternal flame, and at Kerch’s “obelisk of glory” at the top of the mountain.

The eternal flame:

Units that earned the “Kerch” designation in their names for heroic service in the area

One of the walls bearing the names of Heroes of the Soviet Union. There are three such walls

From the eternal flame there are steps leading to the top of the mountain with a victory square centered around an obelisk.

Here is a photo I took yesterday of some people participating in the “immortal regiment,” which involved carrying pictures of the soldiers who fought in the war.

Note that if Kerch was still a part of the Ukraine, all of this would be illegal and the anti-fascist monuments would be torn down as shameful.

These were the first victory day festivities I have attended in person outside of Moscow, and I would say in many ways it was a better experience, and more personal.

first, flowers were laid at the eternal flame at the base of the city steps.

Then we walked around town.

Here is a short video I took:

That’s all for now, I will post more when I have time. There are tons of other photos and video from our trip I still need to go through.

  1. Symbols of the former glory of the Soviet Union and the Red Army are seen on the side of Russia and its allies, while symbols smelling of the former Nazi guys are scattered on the side of the US Empire and.

It seems as if the end of the Ukrainian conflict is already in sight.
“The Axis fascists will be defeated once again.”

The West’s taking on the ‘Nazis’ side is the biggest moronic decision of all this time.
