Yes, Trump Hurt Republicans in the Midterms (But Not the Way You Think)

Republicans are trying to cope with their historically miserable performance in the midterm elections and Democrats are celebrating. Many pundits and commentators on both sides are blaming Trump, but they’re wrong. Here’s why.

Consider my earlier post about how a big Republican win might influence the war in Ukraine:

Republicans have been giving, at best, mixed signals about whether or not they are going to push for any changes in the Democrats’ money laundering scheme in Ukraine. Only a few, like Marjorie Greene, have openly expressed opposition to more funding for Kiev. It’s entirely possible blank checks to the comedian will continue even with Republican majorities in the house and the senate. Take Lindsey “war crimes” Graham for example. There’s no blood letting that he doesn’t enthusiastically support.

I was lukewarm because Republicans themselves have been lukewarm. They’ve been lukewarm on just about everything, and their entire marketing campaign seems to hinge on two points:

-We agree with Democrats in almost every topic that matters.

-We hate support Donald Trump, and we hate you for supporting him.

The Republican party is pathetic and everyone knows they’re pathetic. That’s why they performed poorly. That reason alone overshadows every other factor.
